It all started on January 3, 2015 in California. Well, not the California that is our favorite vacation destination, but the small bar right in the heart of Nuremberg, which shares the same name.
It was 8 o’clock. The snow slowly stopped falling from the sky and I reached my destination (thank you, Google Maps!)
And there he was. White teeshirt. Jeans. Green parka. Andre. Without knowing that my future husband is standing right in front of me, I waited for him to talk to me – just to be 100% sure that it’s really him! And he didn’t show up without a present. Since it was my birthday the day before, he gave me a CD (John Mayer, obviously ;-)).
A tea, a white wine spritzer and two cheesecake schnaps on the house later, we headed towards the subway, while it thick flakes were dancing round in the night sky. And even though my neatly put in curls disappeared with each snow flake falling on it, the evening couldn’t be more beautiful.
It’s Tuesday, April 23, 2019. The first exciting weekend of our California vacation, which we spent at Coachella, lies behind us.
It’s a beautiful morning – warm, the sun is coming through. We start our day as Californian as it get. After a quick breakfast snack at the Mendez house, we grab our coffees to go and head right to Newport Beach to go surfing.
After seeing the first waves, formed of crystal clear water in front of an endless horizon, we immediately knew: This is going to be a special day.
Once we dragged our exhausted bodies to the next taco bar, we headed right back the beach where we spent the rest of the afternoon under the blazing California sun.
Before we heading back to Amanda & Kyle, we wanted to check out Laguna Beach, since we noticed that we never really made it down south of Newport Beach, along the shore.
And that’s exactly where a little surprise was waiting for the future bride: A table at the terrace of a restaurant right at the ocean.
While enjoying delicious food, in the company of kind table neighbors, dolphins and even wales, we were lucky enough to witness a sunset in violet sky, which is otherwise only found in movies.
A sunset, way too beautiful not to capture it. Therefore, we left after a quick chat about Nuremberg with our waiter, to head over to the rock at the ocean.
However, to be fully honest, this has all been part of a plan whose origin lies in a California which couldn’t be any further from Crystal Cove.
To be continued…
